Moog Liberation Keytar

Moog Liberation

The Moog Liberation is one of the first commercially available keytar synthesizers, introduced by Moog Music in 1980. Unlike traditional synthesizers, the Liberation is worn like a guitar, allowing musicians to move freely during live performances. It features two oscillators, a filter, and various modulation controls, making it capable of producing the rich, analog sounds Moog is famous for.

Jean-Michel Jarre used the Moog Liberation in his live shows, most notably during performances of “Magnetic Fields” from the album Magnetic Fields (1981). The Liberation’s portability and powerful sound helped Jarre create energetic, visually captivating performances, allowing him to move across the stage while playing intricate melodies.

The Moog Liberation remains a legendary instrument, known for its role in bridging live performance with electronic music, and it continues to inspire musicians around the world.
