Metamorphoses
Metamorphoses, released in 2000, marks Jean-Michel Jarre’s tenth studio album and showcases a departure from his previous works. Unlike his earlier albums, Jarre incorporates vocals and lyrics on most of the tracks, giving the album a unique place in his discography. This shift to vocal-driven music is reminiscent of his earlier album Zoolook, where he first experimented with using samples of voices.
For Metamorphoses, Jarre also employs a vocoder to manipulate his voice on certain tracks, adding a distinctive electronic touch. The track “Rendez-vous à Paris” features Sharon Corr on violin, blending Jarre’s electronic sound with live instrumentation. Musically, the album is a mix of modern technopop, breakbeat, and electro elements, reflecting a more contemporary sound for the new millennium. Though released under Epic Records in 2000, it saw a later U.S. release in 2004 via Disques Dreyfus.
